Terms of Use

Last updated 16 July 2026

These are the terms on which we publish JDM Gems and on which you read it. They are deliberately short, because a wall of text nobody reads protects nobody.

Using the site

Read it, link to it, quote it, argue with it. By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not, the remedy is straightforward: don't use it.

Our content

The words and photographs on this site belong to us or to the people who licensed them to us. You may quote a reasonable extract with attribution and a link. You may not republish whole articles, scrape the site, or use our content to train a model without asking first. Ask first — we are more agreeable than this paragraph makes us sound.

Buyer's guides are opinion, not advice

This is the important one. Our buyer's guides, spec sheets, valuations and market commentary are editorial opinion, based on our own experience, written for a general audience. They are not professional, mechanical, financial or investment advice, and they are not a substitute for a proper inspection by a qualified person who has the actual car in front of them.

Never buy a car because a website told you the numbers looked good. Ours included.

Cars are mechanical objects with individual histories. Prices move. A compression figure we quote as typical may be nothing like the one in front of you. Decisions you make after reading us are yours, and the consequences are too.

Links to other places

We link out to auctions, forums, specialists and other sites. We do not control them and we are not responsible for what they say or do.

Availability

We try to keep the site up and correct. We do not promise that it will always be available, or that everything on it is free of errors. When we find a mistake we fix it and say so.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from your use of the site or reliance on anything published here. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or other legislation that cannot be contracted out of.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top tells you when we last did.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and the New Zealand courts have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
